I’ve always been wary of jersey fabrics and had been told since I was a little girl how difficult they are to sew. Enter the Colette Moneta with its lures of simplicity and super helpful online advice and I took the plunge. With a little supervision from the awesome man in DC Sewing Machines (where I bought my Pfaff Hobby 1142), I sorted myself out with the requisite needles and away I went.
The Moneta pattern is (like all Colette patterns) so well explained and clearly illustrated. I’d never used shirring elastic
or a twin needle
before but I felt like I had my hand held all the way through and the finished product was so wearable loveable comfortable that I’ve since made 3 more.
One of the best things about this simple but beautiful little number is the side seam pockets:
In fact, this morning I gave my lovely choir friend Monica a birthday Moneta and she was thrilled – at Vespers this afternoon we’re going to be matching!!
Can anyone suggest any other jersey projects now I’ve got the bug?
This dress looks lovely! I was so close to buying this pattern last week, I still want to get it. I bought the Ginger skirt instead, simple pattern with cleat instructions

That is lovely! You could make a sort of jersey (thick material) blazer-style cardigan for feeling cosy at Parents evening but looking smart! x
